About the Course

Enhancing coordination as it pertains to torsion, compression, bending, shearing, and tension. These five forces act during movement but can be problematic when exceeding their useful limits or becoming fixed. In this class, we will learn to treat chronic pain, as well as healing and managing injuries to significantly improve the quality of people/athlete’s lives.

We will be addressing the lower back and as it relates to the viscera and the psoas. Looking at alignment through movement analysis which includes spinal mechanics and understanding "the Line".
 
Although this course is sports-orientated, it applies to everyone.

Rolfing® sports medicine focuses on the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries related to sports and physical activity. Understanding complementary medical support to maintain the myofascial work and when to refer basic exercise science, diet, and nutrition optimize performance while minimizing the risk of injuries. By covering these basics of sports medicine and structural integration, Rolfers® can help clients stay healthy in all aspects while helping to educate them to prevent other issues.

Whether you work with professional athletes or weekend warriors you will learn skills to help alleviate pain, improve your client's movement, and overall quality of life for everyone.

About the Instructor

Shari Lynn MacCallum, BA has been a Certified Advanced Rolfer® since 1997. She has studied at the Rolf Institute® in Boulder Colorado and the European Institute in Torino Italy and Munich Germany.

She is the founder of The Rolfing® Works Limited wellness centers in Denver, Northern Colorado, and St. Paul Minnesota, specializing in the soothing art of therapeutic and corrective structural integration. Shari is also trained in visceral manipulation as it relates to lower back pain.

During her bicycle training at the US Olympic Training Center, Shari suffered from chronic neck and shoulder pain for which she sought structural integration treatments. Structural integration myofascial work successfully alleviated the pain. "This technique inspired me as an athlete because I could move pain free and with greater mobility."


Shari is also an experienced PSIA Professional Ski instructor with Vail Associates and has taught skiing through progressive movement.

Her personal passion is everything equestrian. She has worked with horses since she was a child and as an adult competed in Dressage, Hunter/Jumper, and Eventing. Shari is still very active in the equestrian community. Specializing in working with partnership in performance dedicated to the horse and rider combination.
