Details

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation course brings together elements of visceral manipulation, vascular manipulation, neural manipulation, and joint mobilization, in a regional and functional format to restore ease and depth of breath.

This course was originally developed by Jeffrey Burch at the request of EDI Academy Osteopathic college in Milan Italy. Originally designed as a three-day course, it has been expanded to four days to include more about the respiratory diaphragm and to allow more time to practice the methods taught.

About the Instructor

Jeffrey Burch received a BA in biology from the University of Oregon in 1975. He then trained at The Dr. Ida Rolf Institute® in Boulder, Colorado, and received his Certification as a Rolfer in 1977.

Jeffrey Burch received his Advanced Rolfing® Certification in 1990, after which he again began studying at the University of Oregon where he received a second BA in Psychology in 1993 and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in 1995. His Master’s thesis “Alexithymia and Dissociation” explores topics related to psychosomatic conditions.

Jeffrey has been a member of the Rolf Institute Board of Directors. He served for many years on the Rolf Institute Ethics Committee. He founded the International Association of Structural Integrators (IASI) Yearbook journal. He is a member of the Rolf Institute research committee.

In 1998, Jeffrey began intensively studying CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute, Cranial Manipulation with French Osteopath Alain Gehin, and Visceral Manipulation with Jean-Pierre Barral and his associates. Jeffrey completed the apprenticeship to teach visceral manipulation. He teaches internationally and offers foundational and advanced courses in assessment and treatment methods.

Starting in 2010, he began developing groundbreaking new methods to assess and release adhesions and contractures in joint capsules, bursas, and tendon sheaths. He now teaches these methods.
