Details

A client with low back pain suffers from a cascade of structural compensations stemming from joint restrictions in the pelvis and lumbar spine. These compensations often appear to be fascial in origin but are actually secondary to the joint restriction. This can mislead even experienced practitioners, consume valuable session time, and slow the progress toward integration.

Algorithms are analytical tools used throughout healthcare to improve quality by increasing efficiency and accuracy while saving valuable time.
Structural Algorithms were developed by consolidating osteopathic technique with the theories and principles of Structural Integration. This course introduces a precise evidence-based algorithm designed to expedite the identification and mobilization of the joint restrictions contributing to lumbopelvic pain.

The entire process can be completed in 15 to 25 minutes. The implementation of this method results in a rapid reduction of pain, inflammation, and adaptive compensation, optimizing conditions for achieving structural integration.
Structural Algorithms is a two-course series. The second covers the cervical, thoracic, and costo-vertebral joints.

About the Instructor

John deMahy is a graduate of the Osteopathic College of Ontario, The Rolf Institute®, and the Louisiana State University School of Nursing. Combining decades of Structural Integration practice with clinical experience in emergency nursing and osteopathy, he developed the structural algorithms. He authored Joint Restrictions in Structural Integration, a manual series on assessing and treating restrictions in the axial skeleton.
