This continuing education course supports licensed massage therapists and bodywork practitioners in refining their effectiveness with chronic pain and postural imbalances through Structural Integration and relationally informed somatic practice.
While approaches such as Rolfing® Structural Integration, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Trigger Point Therapy, and Massage are effective clinical tools, this course emphasizes that practitioner presence, nervous system awareness, and the therapeutic relationship significantly influence tissue response, client safety, and long-term outcomes. Participants explore how attention to the relational field enhances structural integration work.
Grounded in trauma-aware principles of safety, pacing, and titration, the course trains practitioners to recognize physiological signs of overwhelm and respond skillfully through touch, timing, and relational engagement. Through lecture, experiential learning, and supervised practice, students learn to identify autonomic nervous system responses (fight, flight, and freeze); recognize relational dynamics such as transference and countertransference within ethical scope of practice; apply efficient body mechanics; and integrate lower-leg mobilization strategies that support whole-body structural integration.
Emphasis is placed on practitioner self-regulation and perceptual clarity, supporting both client well-being and practitioner longevity.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
