About the Course
The workshop will focus on the biomechanics of the thorax, both internally and externally, by exploring the role of the viscera in the dynamics of the thoracic spine and ribs.
The visceral interplay between the core and sleeve of the thorax will be explored through a series of demos that will address both the spinal biomechanics and the ribs and thoracic core in greater detail with an eye towards visceral structure.
Students will engage in learning to see and feel the layers of mobility/hypermobility inherent in the thorax in new ways. Rib on spine, and spine on rib movement patterns will be addressed to allow greater awareness for the practitioner in accessing functional patterns. Improving spinal ROM and respiration will be investigated via the relationships between visceral structure and purely musculoskeletal structure.
About the Instructor
Christopher Amodeo is a Certified Advanced Rolfer® in his 34th year of practice. After passing through the gauntlet of the ‘89 selection committee he audited with Emmett Hutchins/Ron Thompson and practitioned with Jim Asher & Ray McCall. He did a mentorship with Louis Schultz and did the Advanced training 6 years later with Jan Sultan and has trained with most of Dr. Rolf’s original teachers over the decades. Mostly with Jim Asher and Jan Sultan. He’s served two terms on the Institute’s Board Of Directors. He’s also trained with Osteopaths Didier Pratt and Tom Shaver. His last foray was into shamanic energy medicine with Dr. Alberto Villoldo and the Peruvian Qero.
