Sam Adams, Certified Advanced Rolfer

Sam has practiced Rolfing for twenty six years in Baltimore and at Physiofitness in NYC and has now added two powerful tools of movement assessment, the Functional Movement Screen(FMS) and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), to refine and improve the Rolfing process. These movement assessments are performed before each session so the information can direct the general goals of each Rolfing session. The FMS/Rolf combination will strengthen the Rolfing goals of improved movement and posture by identifying and correcting faulty movement patterns that can cause clients to re-tighten and increase their chance of injury. This combination of Rolfing with the movement assessment also enables a numbers-driven and clinically directed process to help clients achieve faster and--more importantly--sustainable Rolfing results with the need for fewer sessions. Better and testable information results in an improved movement potential, posture, with safe and progressive strength gains and lower risks of injury. The movement assessments are the perfect compliment to the Rolfing process.
