Through hands on touch, Rolfing helps the body find a graceful alignment.
I've always been drawn to graceful and mindful movement. An early seed of this learning came when my father passed on his signature dance move.
His signature move is a wave-like motion; a ripple that travels up one arm and then down the other. By itself, it can be quite graceful and delicate, though, we'd make funny sound effects to keep it playful. Over many years, my use of the move evolved. It became less of a joking clown-like wave and became increasingly introspective and subtle. I enjoyed dropping into my body, and experiencing soft waves and shifts ripple across, with or without music.
Shortly after moving to Portland in 2019, I was introduced to Tai Chi, a practice which develops a very similar introspection. I was taken by Tai Chi's synergy with my past explorations, and I quickly became a diligent student of the art. I wanted to find a way to help others find the profound harmony in body & self that Tai Chi can give rise to. I also knew that before approaching those goals, people have to resolve past injuries and pains that can hold back such aspirations.
I was introduced to Rolfing® several years into my Tai Chi practice, and I realized that Rolfing, a transformative modality of hands on therapy, could directly help someone find the same alignment, grace, and ease that Tai Chi works to establish. Rolfing uses hands on touch to shift the various tissues of the body into alignment. By re-organizing how the body holds itself and the way it balances on each joint, people can experience a profound sense of connection in themselves. Accordingly, the far reaching effects of old injuries are addressed and many find that through this process chronic pains also resolve themselves.
After completing my Rolfing training at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute, I became a Certified Rolferâ„¢ and a Licensed Massage Therapist. I returned to Portland, Oregon and opened my practice in 2025. . . . I am in awe of the wondrous complexity of the human form, and how it responds so creatively to fit the demands of our life. To meet this awe justly, I diligently continue to study the precise ways of working the diverse tissues and conditions in the body.
I am grateful and honored to be of service as people discover long lasting harmony in their body and movement.
On my weekends, each Sunday, I continue to practice Tai Chi. With friends, we gather and practice in a Portland park.
